Passage of the California Dream Act
Currently in California undocumented students are granted in-state tuition under Assembly Bill 540, but still do not have access to financial aid. The California Dream Act would grant undocumented students (including many Pilipina/o students) access to state and university financial aid. Samahang Pilipino sees this as a key fight in building an accessible and affordable university system for all of Californians.
We will seek the adoption of a resolution in support of the California Dream Act by the Los Angeles City Council and support the efforts of IDEAS at UCLA, the California Dream Network, the UC Student Association and other student and community organizations across the state.
